Elly Glithero, an employee at our UK site, won last week’s regional (North West) speaking competition.
Hosted by the Nuclear Institute’s Young Generation Network (YGN), the competition invited nuclear professionals in the UK to explain the vital role that nuclear energy plays in achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
Utilising her expertise in decommissioning and waste management, Elly decided to focus on the responsible and sustainable management of nuclear materials. The judges applauded Elly for her original topic and advocacy for nuclear energy.
As the winner, Elly has been invited to take part in YGN’s national speaking competition later this year.
Elly comments: “With the theme being net-zero, I wanted to highlight the importance of end-of-lifecycle management solutions. I found the competition very rewarding and gained a lot of knowledge listening to the other speakers. I’m very proud to have achieved first place and look forward to representing the North West in the national competition.”
