To strengthen and broaden our existing business and ensure its long term sustainability, Urenco is implementing its strategic goals, including in the area of nuclear stewardship.
Decommissioning is a key area of growth for the nuclear industry and we are continuing to investigate opportunities to expand our work in this field.
Our UK subsidiary, Urenco Nuclear Stewardship, is leading this work, alongside its expertise in managing and recycling nuclear materials.
This is complemented by the work of another subsidiary, Urenco ChemPlants, also located in the UK. It will operate our new Tails Management Facility (TMF), which will manage the by-product of our enrichment services – depleted uranium hexafluoride (UF6) or tails – by converting it to stable uranium oxide (U3O8) for long-term storage pending reuse or final disposal.
Urenco’s 2018 Sustainability Report will be published on 6 June.
The film was made in collaboration with ITN Productions and the Chemical Industries Association as part of a programme called Solutions for our Future.
