Discover High Tech Almelo Foundation, an organisation sponsored by Urenco, recently held their first Girls Kick Tech day at the Heracles stadium in Almelo. The event saw 275 girls take part in a technical workshop and football clinic, which combined working on interactive technology projects with physical challenges out on the pitch.
At Urenco, we recognise that technology is playing an increasingly important role in our lives and there is a growing demand for technically trained personnel. Providing opportunities that enable young people to embrace technology and choose a future in science and engineering is therefore extremely important. This is why Urenco proudly sponsors Discover High Tech Almelo as part of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and furthering inclusion and diversity.
The foundation aims to enthuse young people about careers in technology and engineering by organising challenging, interactive, playful and informative activities for students. This starts with technology lessons at primary school and continues with initiatives such as Girls Kick Tech and the Young Professional network, where colleagues from various high-tech companies in Almelo meet and learn from each other.
