New UNL office building aims for outstanding BREEAM score
06 June 2017 Local Urenco NederlandA new office building for Logistics, Materials Handling & Administration will be built at Urenco's Dutch uranium enrichment plant in Almelo. To keep the environmental impact as low as possible, Urenco has chosen to build this office according to the highest sustainability standards, as laid down in BREEAM.
BREEAM is short for ‘Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method’, and is a UK measuring system that is steadily gaining popularity in the Netherlands. BREEAM has five levels, the highest of which is Outstanding (5 stars). To date, Urenco Nederland received an “Outstanding” score on the design certificate of the new building. This is a great achievement and the first step towards receiving an Outstanding score for the actual building when completed.
At present, only a handful of buildings in the Netherlands have scored “Outstanding”.
