Urenco UK participated in the recent Amazed by Science festival, sharing with young people the science behind Urenco's technology through a number of hands on experiments.
Amazed by Science is a Cheshire Wide Festival which focusses on science, technology, engineer and maths. The Urenco UK team of four were based at Cheshire Oaks.
Geoff Owens one member of the team commented:
“The event gave us the opportunity to demonstrate how everyday forces can be used to enrich uranium to become nuclear fuel. We certainly pulled a crowd with our interactive activities. Our demonstrations included the separation of small particles giving children the opportunity to experiment with sand and flower. The virtual reality headsets demonstrating how electricity is generated from nuclear energy proved particularly popular as did the roundabout which gave children to opportunity to feel the effects of centrifugal force.”
