The long-term contract with nuclear operator Slovenské elektrárne (SE) will provide a diversified supply of enrichment services well into the 2030s to support their reactor units at Bohunice and Mochovce power plants.
Slovakia has five nuclear reactors generating more than half of its electricity and one more is currently in the commissioning phase.
Our Chief Commercial Officer, Laurent Odeh, took part in a signing ceremony in Bratislava with representatives from SE on Friday, July 25.
Laurent said: “We are very proud at Urenco to be entering into a new market with a new customer, and I’d like to pay tribute to Slovenské elektrárne for placing their trust in us.
“Urenco is committed to supporting countries’ energy security by providing enrichment services to fuel clean, reliable nuclear energy. We are also deeply committed to helping our customers progress their net zero goals.”
CEO of Slovenské elektrárne, Branislav Strýček, said: “We are pleased that through our future cooperation with Urenco we will be able to diversify our business relationships.
“This diversity will significantly help us to continue to maintain the stable and safe operation of our nuclear power plants.”
