Inspiring women at WiN 2025

22 July 2025 Global

Colleagues from across our sites represented Urenco at the annual Women in Nuclear (WiN) global conference in London last week.

The event was centred around the theme ‘Positively Nuclear, Influencing our Future’, with the goal of encouraging attendees to actively champion the benefits of nuclear energy.

Our Head of Strategy, Sarah Forman contributed to a panel discussion on debunking myths commonly associated with nuclear, for example, the misconception that the industry produces large amounts of dangerous waste.

And our Incident and Injury Free Manager Sam Thompson, delivered a presentation about her experience as a woman entering the nuclear sector. It was entitled "A letter to my 18-year-old self", and her key message to women in the industry was: "Please do not suffer imposter syndrome. You have a right to be here."

Other highlights included powerful keynote speeches by Grace Stanke, Nuclear Engineer and former Miss America, on the need for more nuclear influencers - and double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes who spoke about mental health, leadership and resilience.

In coordination with WiN UK, we were also pleased to fund the ticket of a delegate from Indonesia who had been unable to attend the event in previous years.

At Urenco, we champion women in their pursuit of a career in nuclear. The WiN Global conference was therefore a fantastic opportunity to show our support for greater gender equity throughout the sector and exchange insights with industry partners.
