Urenco scores for climate approach

28 February 2024 Global

We have maintained our rating in the Carbon Disclosure Project for the second year running.

Urenco has solidified its work around establishing more sustainable working practices by achieving a B in its Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) score.

Our latest score relates to our climate activities in 2022 and remains consistent to what we achieved 12 months ago.

The CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs a global disclosure system for businesses - and also cities, states and regions - to manage their environmental impacts.

The B grade – achieved by 45% of companies - means we achieved ‘Management’ level, highlighting that we “addressed the environmental impacts of [our] business and ensured good environmental management”, but still have room to improve as we look to become a leader in our field.

Rob Little, Head of Global Sustainability, said: “As a company, we are very proud to once again have been awarded a B score by the CDP.

“Quite rightly, it gets harder every year so it is very pleasing to see that we have maintained our standards and is testament to the hard work by everyone involved in the net zero programme..

“With the global average score of a C, we know we are doing well but we want to push on now and deliver on our Net Zero Transition Plan, with the ambition of achieving an A score in the coming years.”

In 2021, Urenco signed the Climate Pledge, committing to becoming net zero across scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2040. Since then we committed to set science-based near term targets for 2030, covering all scopes and aiming to reduce emissions in absolute terms by 90% for our direct operations (scopes 1 and 2).
