The UK Government has announced that Wylfa in Anglesey is its preferred site for a new, gigawatt nuclear power plant.
Head of Government Affairs at Urenco, Emilie Isaacs, said:
“We welcome today’s announcement that the UK Government is exploring the building of a large-scale nuclear power plant at Wylfa in Anglesey, having agreed to purchase the site earlier this year.
“Both large-scale nuclear and the next generation of reactors, including small modular reactors and advanced modular reactors, have a role to play in delivering the 24 GW of nuclear by 2050 ambition, providing greater energy security and moving us closer to net zero.”
