Urenco responds to UK Government’s Civil Nuclear Roadmap

The UK Government has today published its Civil Nuclear Roadmap, setting out how up to 24GW of electricity through nuclear energy will be reached by 2050. 

Head of Government Affairs, Emilie Isaacs said: 

“We welcome the UK Government’s publication of the Civil Nuclear Roadmap which will provide further clarity for the industry and continues to allocate a sizable role for nuclear in the future energy mix. 

"The Roadmap’s publication alongside the siting and alternative routes to market consultations will help streamline the regulatory and administrative processes for future projects.

“Playing a key part in the nuclear fuel cycle, we are committed to meeting additional demand for enriched fuel to power the reactors of today and tomorrow.  

“A potential third, large scale plant in the UK – capable of powering six million homes – is another positive development as the nuclear industry ramps up worldwide to help governments and customers meet important  net zero and energy security goals.”
