Nuclear energy is amongst the headlines to come out of the Spring Budget statement made by the UK Government.
A Urenco spokesperson said:
"We welcome today’s announcement by the Chancellor, confirming that the government will purchase the Wylfa site in Ynys Môn and the Oldbury-on-Severn site in South Gloucestershire for potential nuclear new-builds.
"We also welcome the announcement that Great British Nuclear will begin the next phase of the Small Modular Reactor selection process, with companies now invited to submit their initial tender responses by June.
"Both announcements are a vital step in delivering the 24 GW of nuclear by 2050 ambition and will support the development of fuel production and manufacturing capabilities in the UK. We look forward to hearing further developments and engaging with Government and industry to support this progress."
