Urenco highlighted the importance of the nuclear fuel supply chain for energy security at an international event in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking at the World Utilities Congress (WUC), Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Michael Bryant, said long term, firm commitments from governments and utilities would enable suppliers to support countries’ nuclear energy needs.
Michael spoke at the Nuclear Energy Forum on May 9 which ran alongside the main WUC exhibition, and for which Urenco was a Gold sponsor.
Urenco is one of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) nuclear fuel suppliers for its Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
Michael also emphasised the importance of inclusion and diversity in the workforce, and how the global nuclear industry needs to be the most inclusive and diverse it can be to attract and retain the best talent.
The WUC, hosted by TAQA and held under the patronage of HH. Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, convened the global power and water industries to discuss trends and technologies impacting future power and water demand.
The focus was on the proactive measures for decarbonization, curbing carbon emissions and attracting the long-term capital investment needed for a sustainable future.
