Urenco has made a donation to a local LGBT+ charity following Pride month.
Our Head Office Donations Panel, based at Stoke Poges, approved a donation of £1,500 to Support U. The charity offers the LGBT+ community a range of support services including counselling and domestic and sexual abuse support for survivors.
Several head office colleagues live in the Thames Valley and Reading area which is where the charity operates.
CEO, Lorna McArdle said: “Everyone at Support U would like to thank you for this generous donation. It will go a long way in sustaining our service.”
Urenco’s own LGBTQIA+ network will now be known as Pride @ Urenco, and is working with industry partners to set up a new LGBTQIA+ forum, The Rainbow Forum, to support colleagues across the nuclear industry.
Companies involved include Jacobs, EDF, Magnox, the NIA, the UKAEA, Babcock, Cavendish Nuclear and more. More details will be announced soon.
Michael Bryant, workstream lead for I&D at Urenco, said: “We understand that people are more engaged, efficient and happier when they can bring their authentic selves to work. Pride @ Urenco is another step forward for Urenco and our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, as we strive to improve the employee experience for all and make our industry more inclusive and diverse.”
