Open letter from nuclear industry to the EU

An open letter from the nuclear industry to EU key decision makers has been published.

As a leader within the European nuclear industry, and a keen supporter of it, Urenco is one of the signatories.

The letter stresses the important role nuclear plays in maintaining essential power supplies and the key contribution the industry can make, alongside renewables, in achieving climate change goals. Nuclear remains the largest source of low carbon electricity within the EU.

The letter also highlights how nuclear can assist with the post COVID-19 economic recovery, in relation to jobs, research and development and exports. An additional message is the indispensable role of nuclear in the medical sector – from diagnostic and therapeutic applications, to detecting and curing cancer. Urenco has been investing in this area through our expanding Stable Isotopes business.
