Urenco Chairman Stephen Billingham has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in recognition of his service to Government owned, public and regulated companies.
Stephen Billingham has served on the Urenco Board since 2009 and has been Chairman since 2016. During his tenure as Chairman, he has overseen a number of the company’s most important capital expansions, including the opening of Urenco’s U.S. facility and the opening of the Tails Management Facility (TMF) in Capenhurst, near Chester.
Commenting on the Honour, Stephen said:
“I am honoured to receive a CBE in recognition of my service to companies at the interface of the public and private sector. The award is a great testament to all those people that work for organisations delivering key services owned or regulated by Government. I want to thank all my Urenco colleagues for their tireless work in making the business a global leader in meeting the world’s demand for sustainable energy.”
Stephen is also Chairman of the leading UK regulated water utility, Anglian Water, which has in the last year won numerous national and international awards, including “UK Utility of the Year”, for its innovation and customer service.
Stephen has also chaired the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s largest acute hospital trusts.
