Urenco announces appointment of Boris Schucht as CEO

21 January 2019 Global

Urenco, an international supplier of uranium enrichment services, today announces the appointment of Boris Schucht as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Schucht will take up the position of Chief Executive Officer in May 2019, at which time he will be appointed to the Urenco Limited Board.

He joins Urenco from 50Hertz, the North-East German Transmission System Operator, where he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer since 2010. Mr Schucht previously held a number of senior executive positions within the energy sector across Germany and Europe, including WEMAG AG and the Vattenfall Group.

Mr Schucht said of his appointment:

“I look forward to leading Urenco and sustaining the long term success of the business, while enhancing our support for the industry. Urenco plays a pivotal role in the production of reliable, low carbon nuclear power. As the demand for electricity increases, it is essential that we have a secure supply of energy. I am personally convinced that combatting global climate change requires a balanced energy mix in which nuclear plays a vital role.”

Mr Schucht succeeds Thomas Haeberle who will step down and retire from his position of Chief Executive Officer.
